For one of the best campsites in New Zealand, this campsite near Mount Cook is an absolute gem. By day, you’ll enjoy stunning views of the iconic mountain, and by night, you’ll be treated to some of the most incredible stargazing in the world. The campsite features clean showers, cooking facilities, and outdoor dining areas to ensure a comfortable stay. Just a short walk takes you to the lake, adding even more magic to your visit. This is truly one of New Zealand’s most amazing places to spend a night under the stars and a short drive from the Hooker Valley track. This campsite in Milford Sound is one of the most expensive we stayed at across New Zealand, but it’s absolutely worth the money. With only 20 sites available each night, it’s essential to book well in advance to secure your spot. Located inside a beautiful forest, the campsite offers incredible views of the surrounding mountains and rivers, creating a truly magical setting. It’s one of the only campsites in Milford Sound, making it a unique and sought-after experience. The nearby lodge is a stylish hotel with fantastic restaurant and bar facilities, and the campsite offers clean showers and self-catering options for added convenience. This campsite is a hidden gem, perfectly situated in the middle of town yet feels like a peaceful forest retreat. Surrounded by trees and nature, it offers a great sense of privacy, with most of the camping spots tucked away in quiet corners. The facilities are great including clean showers, a fully equipped kitchen, and washing-up areas to make your stay comfortable. Be sure to book online, and if you’re planning on staying multiple nights, they often have great deals running. We booked the day before and they had a few spaces left.

Located just a few minutes’ drive from the iconic Pancake Rocks. The camping spots are peaceful and secluded, offering a perfect place to unwind under the stars.
